The Western Polished Lady Beetle, scientifically known as Harmonia axyridis, is a species of beetle native to Asia but has spread to many parts of the world, including North America and Europe. Also referred to as the Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle, this small insect is well-known for its distinctive appearance and beneficial role as a natural predator of aphids and other garden pests.

Measuring about 5 to 8 millimeters in length, the Western Polished Lady Beetle displays a wide range of colors and patterns. While it commonly has a bright red or orange hue, it can also be yellow or black. The number and size of black spots on its elytra (wing covers) can vary greatly, with some individuals even lacking spots altogether. This species has a domed shape with a shiny, smooth exoskeleton, and its overall appearance resembles that of other lady beetles.

“Honestly the most authentic and filling poutine I've had west of Quebec. As someone who grew up in the Maritimes and severely missed the almost... I don't know. Sweet? Cheese curds of the Quebecois poutine and light but savoury poutine sauce, this was EXACTLY what I needed after a long hot day at the lake. I can only imagine how good this place will feel in the winter.
Great portion, good price, amazing staff and service. Don't be shy to try their beaver tails, they'll remind you of how good maple butter can be!”

The smoked meat poutine was the highlight and the coffee is excellent.

Discover the beauty of the Lillooet region with the challenging 10.3-km out-and-back Camelshoof Mountain Trail. On average, the trail takes 4 hours and 45 minutes to complete, offering hikers a rewarding and invigorating experience. While a popular trail, there are quieter times of day where hikers can find solitude. Accessing the trailhead requires a 10-km drive down an unpaved road that is in good condition and suitable for 2WD vehicles. However, those with a fear of heights may feel uncomfortable as the road goes up a mountain with no barriers. The trailhead has limited parking available for a few vehicles and is located directly across from the cattleguard.

Starting on an old FSR, the trail gains in elevation and becomes steeper after the memorial bench lookout. Nevertheless, it remains a well-worn and easy-to-follow trail. At the top, hikers can expect to see a fire lookout with breathtaking panoramic views of the area on a clear day. The area is also home to a variety of wildflowers that add to the scenic beauty of the hike.

The Thompson Canyon Loop is an easy 1.5Km dog-friendly loop trail near Lytton, BC that takes only 10 minutes to complete. The Thompson Canyon Loop is open year-round.

Note: Nearby areas have been affected by wildfires. Always err on the side of caution when heading to wildfire affected areas and turn around if you end up somewhere unsafe.
