Golfing in Merritt and Quilchena
May 30th, 2006 GOLFING IN MERRITT AND QUILCHENA Merritt and Quilchena golf courses are challenging for both novice and expert golfers. You will also get to see some of the most spectacular scenery this region has to offer. MERRITT GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB Merritt golf course is located right in Merritt on Hwy 8. Turn right on Juniper drive, at Norgaard Ready-Mix. This is a nine-hole course with men’s yardages stretching over 6200 yards and ladies 5,282. You can rent clubs and power carts are available. There are two separate sets of tee boxes distinguishing the front and back nine. The Nicola River winds its way around the course and you across the river 6 times in 9 holes. A practice range is available as well as a short game area, a putting green and on-course yardage markers. There are two CPGA Professionals on staff if you want a lesson or some helpful tips. While your there take a look around the pro shop and see all the new golfing items. Enjoy a snack at their snack bar and licensed bar while watching golf on their large screen T.V., or relax on their patio and enjoy watching golfers finishing hole No. 9 and 18. QUILCHENA ON THE LAKE GOLF & RV PARK Located on Hwy 5A approximately 20km from Merritt, this is truly a golf course you will want to challenge in beautiful Quilchena BC. This 9-hole golf course has Quilchena Creek running through, and is a par 70 over 18 holes. This course has the same shot different flag placement, for 18 holes. Every second Tuesday starting at 1pm is Ladies night. Every Tuesday starting at 1pm is Men’s night. Seniors is Thursday’s starting at 9am. Wednesday golfing is $10.00 a round. There is a pro-shop, snack, licensed bar, and banquet facilities on site. If you need camping accommodations they have a 25 site RV Park, or stay at the Historical Quilchena Hotel. This golf course has it all, a challenging game for you and a picturesque view of the lake and surrounding mountains. This is one golf course you don’t want to miss, come out for some exciting golf!
