Campfire Bans in Kamloops Fire Centre
Effective at noon on July 24, 2009 and until further notice, campfires are prohibited in the Kamloops Fire Centre. This is in addition to the Category 1, 2 and 3 restrictions already in place.
This open fire ban is in effect to protect public safety and to limit the risk of person-caused wildfires.
This ban does not restrict fires in stoves using gas, propane, or briquettes.
This restriction does apply to open flame campfire apparatus (i.e. propane campfires, etc.), tiki torches and citronella candles.
Forest Use Restrictions in Kamloops Fire Centre
Due to severe wildfire risk we are asking people to stay out of backcountry regions where ever possible.
KAMLOOPS – A Restricted Area Order went into effect on August 8, 2009 which affects road and area access around the Terrace Mountain Fire.
This closure applies to the entire area between the Whiteman Creek Forest Service Road and Bear Creek Forest Service Road. In order to avoid interference with fire control activities, no one may enter or remain in this Restricted Area unless they receive written authorization to travel to or from their residence or are involved in fire fighting activities.
For written authorization for the Terrace Mountain area (not applicable for area within the Evacuation Order), please call 250-769-7343.
A Restricted Area Order went into effect on August 8, 2009 which affects road and area access around the Brookmere.
This closure applies to the following area: between the Otter Valley Road on the east boundary between 15 km and 33 km, also on the west boundary between Exit 256 on Highway 5 and the most northerly point of the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area, and the south boundary from Coquihalla Summit in an easterly direction to Otter Valley Road.
In order to avoid interference with fire control activities, no one may enter or remain in this Restricted Area unless they receive written authorization to travel to or from their residence or are involved in fire fighting activities.
