Greywater Discharges Banned in BC's Inland Waters
Jan 7th, 2008
Section 13 of the BC Environmental Management Act prohibits the discharge of both black and greywater from any vessel into any water, unless otherwise specifically authorized.
Greywater discharge is any water from showers, kitchen, bathroom, sinks, dishwashers, washing machines or hot tubs; while black water is any waste water discharged from toilets.
The BC Ministry of Environment is implementing a phased-in compliance to this regulation. Full compliance is expected by 2010 - for more information while boating in the BC Interior please contact the Ministry of Environment.
