Delta Couple Finds the "Gold" in Gold Country
Jan 15th, 2008 Bruce and Joan Winter of Delta are the proud winners of the 2007 Gold Country Communities Society Gold Nugget Contest. The Winters entered the contest while traveling on vacation this past summer, visiting several Gold Country communities. When contacted with the announcement Joan was ecstatic, noting her favorite Gold Country memory was “visiting these unique character towns and learning nuggets of Canadian history.” The Winters are now the proud owners of a natural gold nugget worth $1000 to add to the treasured memories of their Gold Country holiday. “We're so excited. We rarely win anything, and have never won anything as exciting as the gold nugget,” said Joan Winter upon the receipt of the nugget. “Our thanks to the Gold Country Communities Society for providing us with such a special and memorable memento of our visit to Gold Country.” The Gold Nugget Contest is run annually in the Official Gold Country Visitors’ Guide. Entrants must visit a minimum of three Information Centres, Museums or Heritage Centres throughout the Gold Country region and collect a unique stamp.
