Yes! Families with small children, young couples and retired groups of friends have all written to us to let us know how much they've enjoyed the GeoTourism program. Most cache sites do not require excessive physical exertion to reach them, and if you don't have a GPS, you can still have a go by following the letterbox clues.
You can buy one of our fantastic Field Guides, and many other GeoTourism goodies, at our online store.
Field Guides are also available at Visitor Information Centres and participating stores throughout the region. For a list of retailers in your area, email

As many of Gold Country's communities are in rural areas, the best way to get around is by car. It takes about two hours to drive from the southern communities of Gold Country to Whistler, or three hours to Vancouver. It is about two hours from the east of Gold Country to Kelowna, and eight hours to Calgary. There are rental car establishments in nearby Kamloops. Gold Country is easily accessible by four major highways: Trans Canada Hwy 1, Hwy 97 North, Hwy 99 and Coquihalla Hwy 5.

The Temperatures in Gold Country are as diverse as the landscapes! Semi-arid desert-like areas such as Cache Creek and Ashcroft can receive soaring summer temperatures. The hottest temperatures in Gold Country are usually closely contested between Lillooet and Lytton, with both communities seeing summer temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius. In highland communities such as Logan Lake, summers tend to be much more temperate, but cold winters can see the temperatures drop to around -30 degrees Celcius.
