Nestled in a quiet valley in the sub-alpine forest of the Southern Cariboo, Loon Lake offers an outdoor experience for the entire family. Of course the main draw here is the fishing, but there are plenty of other activities to enjoy on or near the lake. If you don't feel like cooking while you are on vacation, there is even a restaurant at the lake.
Rent a pontoon boat from one of the resorts and cruise the lake in luxury. Watch the loons carry their babies on their backs and listen to their song at dusk. Bald eagles are abundant in this area, and have even been known to grab an unwary fisherman's catch.
The lake is a family oriented area with several resorts approved by the BC Accommodations Guide, and offers lodging for almost every budget. Ask the locals for details or directions for sightseeing, hiking, and many other outdoor activities in the area.
After you've caught your limit, go for a horseback ride. Book a trail ride, take a riding lesson, or take an interpretive eco-tour on the Arrowstone Mountain Range.
For a winter get away, some of the resorts are open year-round. Bundle up and enjoy a hot cocoa after a fun filled day in a winter wonderland. Some of the winter activities at Loon Lake include ice-fishing, snowmobiling, and horseback riding.
