Escape to Logan Lake, "Where Recreation and Nature Meet!" Logan Lake was created in 1970 and is the fifth highest community in B.C. at 1,067m. Our friendly residents take pride in our picturesque surroundings, enjoying fresh air and blue skies in all seasons. Our commercial area includes a grocery store, several restaurants, and a pub as well as many unique shops. The Visitor Information Center is uniquely located inside a huge mining shovel that sits next to a 235-ton ore truck by our Recreation Centre. Our friendly staff at our Tourist Infocentre offers information from mid May to mid October on area attractions and events.
The area offers an abundance of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. A nature trail meanders around the lake and it is not uncommon to encounter deer, wildlife, as well as loons, ducks and other waterfowl on the lake. Along the trail is an artificial trout-spawning channel where blackwater rainbow trout can be seen spawning in May. Also popular is the nine-hole golf course, located next to the full service municipal campground located on the lake, just a short walk (1-km) to the town centre. There are also over 30 lakes in the area teeming with fish. Most of the lakes have camping facilities with many resorts in the area that offer boat and cabin rentals.
Other activities include hiking, biking, tennis, volleyball, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing on 36km of groomed trails that are open from November through to April. Indoor facilities include a curling rink, arena and weightlifting room.
A short 10 minutes away by car, is the largest open pit copper mine in North America. Highland Valley Copper offers tours five days a week from May through August. Seating is limited, so call ahead for reservations (250) 523-3307. The annual open house held on the August long weekend attracts visitors of all ages for a day of entertainment and the opportunity to tour mining activities and displays. Five different tours are offered demonstrating the different aspects of mining, from pit tours to maintenance and reclamation projects.
